The cost of cleaning a delicate or high-value rug largely depends on the type of fibre it has been woven from (is it a fine silken rug or a hardy woollen one?), the size, pile depth, age and the general integrity of your rug. For example, an everyday polyester rug may only cost in the region of €50 to clean. Whereas a large antique Persian rug, one with a considerable amount of silk thread, and one that requires the most expert of care, may take several hours to clean costing a few hundred euros.

    That Makes Us Dublin’s Best Rug Cleaners

    After many years of working with fine and delicate fabrics, our team of fine-material specialists have developed a seven-step rug cleaning process. Our rug cleaning process enables our team to give all types of rugs a deep clean. It helps refresh and revive the natural colours and tones. And best of all, it is delicate and does not damage the fibres or cause dye bleed.

    Pre-Clean Inspection

    The first step is to give your rug a thorough inspection. Every inch of your rug will be examined. Our experts will look for signs of historic damage, loose knotting, moth damage, splaying and evidence of dye-bleed. Once we have assessed your rug, we will take you through our findings and what the recommended steps/cleaning regime will be. After which, we shall safely bundle up your rug and transport it to our modern rug cleaning facility in Rathcoole, Dublin – Free of charge.

    Dry Dirt Removal

    Did you know that roughly 85%-95% of soilage in your rug is caused by dry dirt particles? Using our specialised rug cleaning equipment, we will carefully extract the dry dirt that has been worked deep into the rug’s pile. Rugs can hold a staggering amount of dry dirt and this stage can take a significant amount of time to complete – often needing to be repeated. It is not uncommon to remove several kilograms of dry dirt from an average room-sized sized rug.

    Testing and Rectifying Your Rug’s pH Balance

    Rugs generally prefer to be in a pH-neutral state (with wool rugs being an exception). After an improper clean, or over the course of time, the pH may destabilise and shift to an acidic or alkaline state. A destabilised pH may damage the fibres and cause dyes to bleed. By using either an acidic or alkaline solution, we will stabilise the pH before moving on to the next stage.

    Addressing Spots and Stains

    Stains and spots are unsightly and can often “hide” until the dry dirt has been fully removed. Our fine material specialists spend a considerable amount of time examining every inch of your rug, mapping out and identifying all spots and stains. Stain identification is paramount because it allows us to select the best treatment to help remove up to 99% of stains.

    Wet or Dry-Cleaning Methods

    Depending on the rug being cleaned, we will either proceed with a wet, low-moisture or dry clean. Different fabrics react differently when exposed to moisture. Moisture sensitive rugs will be either dry or low-moisture cleaned. Moisture happy rugs will be wet cleaned, by hand, using a range of different tools and machinery.

    Force Drying

    By using commercial grade dryers, we can return your rug to its dry condition in no time. A rug can take a long time to dry if left to dry naturally. That is especially true if you consider how humid the climate in Ireland is. The problem with a natural dry is that leaving a rug in a wet state, for too long, can cause dye bleed, bad odours and permanent damage.
